The Power of Communication

Communication lies at the heart of all personal and professional connections. STEAM Rising emphasizes the critical role of networking, mentoring, internships, building allies, and personal branding in achieving success, whether in studies, clubs, sports, relationships, trade schools, college, or the workplace.

Students will learn that even the best ideas can fall short if they are not effectively communicated.

Wellness Matters

Students need to recognize that positive mental health and strong physical health are vital in making strong, informed decisions. Each year, STEAM Rising will present a powerful video focused on a young person’s struggles with mental or physical challenges and how that person chose to overcome them.

Inspiring Women in STEM/STEAM

This segment highlights trailblazing people who have made significant contributions in engineering, math, science, the environment, or innovation. Whenever possible, we feature stories of local professionals to inspire students with relatable role models who demonstrate the impact they can have in their communities and beyond.

Exploring Careers

Students engage in a dynamic panel discussion showcasing the variety of technical careers in the steel and manufacturing sectors. Partnerships include engineers and skilled professionals working in the trades or on the floor in manufacturing facilities, offering real-world insights and inspiration for future opportunities.

“YES – YOU Matter, YOU Are Enough” A Message of Empowerment

Each student receives a copy of YES – YOU Matter, YOU Are Enough, a book designed to inspire self-confidence and resilience. Through its powerful message, students learn to take responsibility for their choices, build inner strength, embrace their passions, and surround themselves with positivity.

Above all, it reinforces the essential truth: “I Matter, I Am Enough.”

Empowering Future Leaders

The STEAM Rising program is offered to schools at no cost and is fully funded through generous grants and sponsorships. The goal is a sustainable five-year program, with annual school visits to inspire students in STEM and STEAM. This reflects the structure described on the public program page, including the five-part format and no-cost school access through sponsorships.

Between visits, students are encouraged to engage in activities that enhance their skills, including:

Debate classes
Junior Achievement programs
Boys & Girls Clubs
4-H and Scouts
Internships and other leadership opportunities

The goal is to raise awareness of the significant contributions people have made throughout history, help students develop crucial professional skills, and expose them to the wide array of career opportunities in STEM and STEAM.
